Financing Apartheid

IU owns billions of dollars worth of investments. These funds are owned both by IU directly, and by the IU Foundation (which manages a large $3.8 Billion endowment). While the IU Foundation hides its investments from the public, IUDC obtained documents in 2025 proving that IU owns investments in countries and companies that violate human rights and commit genocide in Palestine. Those investments include:
- Israeli government bonds that directly fund Israel’s military operations in Palestine.
- Bonds from the Israel Electric corporation.
- Corporate bonds from companies targetted by the Boycott Divest and Sanction Movement (BDS).
- BDS is a Palestinian-lead solidarity movement that organizes boycotts of companies that directly aid Israel’s occupation and genocide.
- The companies IU invests in include companies like Coca-Cola that have factories on stolen land in the West Bank; Intel, Dell, and Hewlett Packard which provide technology to the IDF; and Microsoft, which enabled the IDF use AI to surveil and analyze mass wiretaps of Palestinians.
- IU also profits from investments in other human rights abusers like the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
IU certainly holds more investments in human rights abusers in it’s other funds that it hides from public view. IUDC’s key demands include transparency and accountability for its investments.
