🇵🇸 Stand up for Palestine at IU

✊ Join our campaign

Indiana University is complicit in the occupation, apartheid, and genocide occurring in Palestine. Through investments, research partnerships, and the policing of free speech, IU provides material and ideological support for Israel’s political violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and the entire region.

But a majority of Hoosiers want an end to the war and want to stop funding it. All it takes is to join together and make sure IU’s administration knows it.

Our goals:

1️⃣ IU must not invest in companies and countries that violate human rights.

Indiana University Foundation (IUF) runs a large investment fund (or endowment) worth over $3.5 billion in 2024. We call on the IUF to add a clause to the investment policy banning the fund from profiting off of violators of human rights and international law.

2️⃣ IU must end its partnerships with NSWC Crane that militarize our education.

Indiana University solicits and builds partnerships with the Military Industrial Complex, including NSWC Crane (a location that warehoused 2,000lb bombs used to massacre civilians in Gaza). We call on IU to wind those partnerships down and offer students educational opportunities that don’t injure and maim others.

3️⃣ IU must become a democratic university.

For too long, IU has been dominated by wealthy administrators and an out of touch Board of Trustees. These people have trampled academic freedom, brutalized their students with police, and harassed their own community for speaking out against genocide. IU must become a campus that is governed by the people who’s learning and labor make it run.

✅ Take Action

A strong majority of the IU community already believes in our goals. Our campaign this year is to make sure IU’s administration hears from so many of us that they can’t pretend they didn’t know. Here are some steps you can take to support Palestine:

✉️ Write some emails

For our 1st and 2nd goals, we are running a strong letter writing campaign. We want IU’s administration to be overwhelmed with the number of different people who believe enough in a free Palestine and a democratic campus that they took the time to say it directly.

Below are pages with background information on our demands, who to email, and some form letters to help you get started.

  • Take action: Divest from Apartheid

Send a letter in 5 minutes

  • Take action: Demilitarize our Education

Send a letter in 5 minutes

🗣️ Get 5 friends to write emails

Thousands of our friends and family want to make a difference and show solidarity with Palestine. But they might not know how. Start by making a quick list of people you know. Then reach out and help them understand our campaign and why we need their voice to join ours.

  • Take action: Talk to your friends

📢 What is IUDC?

The Indiana University Divestment Coalition is a group of students, faculty, staff, and community members who organize against IU’s support for Israel and human rights abuses. We organize public outreach, advocacy campaigns, educational events, and more aimed at fulfilling the true mission of the university: to create a democratic and free society.
